Rasulullah is Our Idol

This is an English Speech, presented by Jihad Jundullah, the student of Kafila International Islamic School Jakarta, in Fajar Hidayah School, although he didn't win the competition, but, He has done a great spirit and great confidence in presenting it. That's the best point i think, than only become a winner, but not a real winner.

Distinguished audiences,
Ladies and gentlemen, sisters and brothers,

May Peace be to you and Allah's mercy and blessing as well
Assalamu’alaikum Wr. Wb.

First of all, I’d like to extend my sincere gratitude to Allah SWT, who has been giving me health, faith and opportunity, so I can stand here to deliver the speech on this precious occasion. May peace and blessing be upon our prophet Muhammad SAW, who has taught us about Islam and morals in our life.

It’s great pleasure for me to be given the opportunity to deliver a speech on the subject “Rasulullah is our idol” on this precious occasion.

Sisters and brothers, as we know that Muhammad is the last messenger sent by Allah to the people in the world. He is a man who taught us the cardinal principle of the unity of God, obliged us to confess it with the tongue and believed it in the heart. He is a man who taught us about Islam and worships we must and should do to bring nearer to Allah. He is a man who struggled in delivering Islam, faced unbelievers who always hurt him. He is a man who never gave up in delivering Islam. And of course, he is a man who had a beautiful pattern of conduct in life.

Allah says in Qur’an, Sura Al-ahzab at the 21st verse:

لَقَدْ كَانَ لَكُمْ فِي رَسُولِ اللَّهِ أُسْوَةٌ حَسَنَةٌ لِمَنْ كَانَ يَرْجُو اللَّهَ وَالْيَوْمَ الآخِرَ وَذَكَرَ اللَّهَ كَثِيرًا

“Ye have indeed in the Messenger of Allah a beautiful pattern (of conduct) for any one whose hope is in Allah and the Final Day, and who engages much in the Praise of Allah.”

So, what we should do as a Moslem is to make him as our idol and follow his beautiful pattern of conduct and do it in our daily life. We must learn what kind of conduct he did from his sunnah; the words and acts.

But, as we see now in our daily life, there are many people in Indonesia, especially Moslem people have another idol. They make their favorite artist, a football player, a racer, a singer, a dancer as their idol. They follow their behaviors and appearances; hair, clothes, words and acts. Everything their idol do, they like it and do it, and it really make me astonished. And what make me more astonished is that all their idols patterns of conduct are really far from the truth and worse than a beautiful pattern of Muhammad’s conduct. So, what we are waiting for? Let’s say that our idol is Muhammad prophet, May peace and salutation be upon him.

Sisters and brothers,
Allah has sent his messenger as a last messenger in the end of time; it’s mean that Allah must give His messenger the beautiful pattern of conduct that should be followed by Moslem in the world. He must perfect the religion and must teach us through His messenger how to do our devotions and worship to Him.

Allah says in Qur’an, Sura Al-Maeda at the 3rd verse:

…الْيَوْمَ أَكْمَلْتُ لَكُمْ دِينَكُمْ وَأَتْمَمْتُ عَلَيْكُمْ نِعْمَتِي وَرَضِيتُ لَكُمُ الإسْلامَ دِينًا …

“This day I have perfected your religion for you, completed My favor upon you, and have chosen for you Islam as your religion.”

It means that Allah has perfected Islam as our religion and completed His favor to us, through His last messenger. He has been giving us His favor, so we can live in Indonesia, which majority of people are Moslem, so we can do our worships and acts of devotions easily, without feeling frightened as what our prophet and his followers felt at the first time Islam delivered by him. It is His favor that we can live until now and can easily learn about anything what he taught us in Qur’an through the technology in this era.

Finally, I’d like to convey my highest appreciation and heartfelt thanks to distinguished juries and audiences on this occasion. In parting, allow me to tell you, that in the hereafter the persons will come to their idol. So, let’s make Rasulullah Muhammad as our idol, so we can come together with him in the hereafter.
